Building sustainable leadership that drives performance without burnout
Dr. Allessandria (Al) Polizzi is a former HR executive, and Founder and CEO of Verdant Consulting, where she partners with organisations to build sustainable leadership, strengthen psychological health and safety, and drive resilient performance. Her career began in senior leadership roles where she led large-scale transformation efforts, talent strategies, and leadership capability building in fast-moving, high-demand environments. This experience shaped her core belief: leadership starts with the human behind the title. By understanding the emotional and mental load of being a leader, as well as how they are influenced by the systems leaders operate within, we can create leaders and teams that thrive. At Verdant, Al works with organisations to bridge this gap. Her approach integrates evidence-based leadership development with global standards such as ISO 45003, helping organisations proactively identify and manage psychosocial risks while improving performance, retention, and decision-making. She is recognised for translating complex research into practical, actionable strategies that leaders can apply immediately. Her work spans leadership development, trauma-informed practices, burnout prevention, and organisational diagnostics, with a focus on aligning wellbeing as a core business strategy—not a benefit. Al is also the author of The Workplace Mental Health Strategy Workbook and the upcoming Sustainable Leadership Workbook. She i a frequent speaker on leadership resilience, the future of work, and the role of psychological health in organisational success.
My coaching is grounded in a simple truth: leadership starts with the human behind the title. Many leadership challenges are not just about individual capability—they reflect the emotional demands of the role and the systems leaders operate within. I help leaders navigate both, building the awareness, resilience, and practical strategies needed to perform without compromising their health or their teams. Grounded in evidence-based practices and aligned with global standards such as ISO 45003, my approach translates complex research into clear, actionable steps leaders can apply in real time. I believe sustainable leadership is not about doing more, but leading differently—aligning performance with long-term health, clarity, and impact.
My communication style is warm, engaging, and grounded in real expertise. I bring a natural sense of humour that makes complex or heavy topics feel approachable, without diminishing their importance. I’m curious in how I engage—I ask thoughtful, probing questions that help people think more deeply rather than simply giving answers. At the same time, my knowledge comes through clearly and confidently. I translate research and complex ideas into language that feels practical and relevant, balancing relatability with credibility. I challenge people directly when needed, but in a way that feels supportive and constructive rather than critical. Overall, I aim to create psychological safety while still moving conversations forward—helping people feel understood, while also stretching them in meaningful ways.
